Summer Academy

Dear all,
I have uploaded the booking form for the summer academy as requested by so many of you. I am running the same format as last year, 2 three day camps. Please highlight which academy you wish to attend (you can attend both if you wish)

Can you also make sure that you write down shirt sizes as well. As you have all been to camps before you can check the size of previous shirts for accurate sizing.
I am talking to a couple of the current England team and they will be delivering some coaching barring any last minute training camps or tournaments.
I look forward to hearing from you all soon,
Best wishes
Cal

Hi Cal I think it was a great camp! I liked the prize bucket because there was some great stuff and any coach could give you a prize. The new shirt was very cool i liked the short sleeves. I liked the idea that every one got a EASTER EGG!! The best coach was Nathen because he encouraged you and was cool and funny a part from you!! I think we could of played more games on the first day. Thanks Callum Snow

Dear Calum

i thought the hockey camp was great fun.

The warm up was not just stretching but also included a game of bulldog which I really enjoyed. Bulldog was good because dodging people required agility and tricking people into moving the opposite direction with a dummy which is what you often need to do when beating someone on the hockey pitch. It also requires acceleration and I learnt the importance of this for hockey on this camp. When defending you need to watch the opponents legs in hockey and this is the same in bulldog.

Next we did a long drill which consisted of sections which required different skills. Sometimes I find drills to be boring but I really enjoyed the drill because it was challenging and I just wanted to keep doing it until I got it right.

I was also pleased when Nathan taught me to lift the ball at the end of a v drag and when you showed me how to drag flick which was a lot of fun.

After lunch we spent the rest of the day playing mini games on a third of a pitch and this was the best bit because i got to play with better players and also the coaches and it allowed me to try out my skills and what I had been practising in the drills. However the games seemed to encourage us to try out individual skills rather than pass and move and i would have liked a mixture of the two.

The only additional things i would have liked to have done is hitting practice including the slap hit, as this is something that I am keen to work on, and perhaps a drill on tackling.

In summary though i thoroughly enjoyed the camp and thank you for having me.

I hope to get the chance to do it again.

Hi Callum,
My son Zac P had a great time at your Havant easter camp, and was very chuffed with his 'pink' stick! He's only been playing hockey at school since January so quite new to it, but he loved the 2 days of camp, and wants to start going to Havant on a Sunday. Where are the pics from the camp?
Thanks
Sarah
