Crossbar challenge from top of the D and for the little ones from the P spot. Penalty shootout for a prize. A skills competition 'Who Can Do The Coolest Skill' coaches skill off. Best goal of the camp. A hockey assualt course including indian dribble, flick the balls into buckets and finish with a shot at a goal keeper or something like that. Specialized areas for forwards, midfielders and defenders. Tips on tactical play such as short corners, long corners, free hits and so on.

Less matches more stick and ball tricks. I'd like more of the ramp and indian dribble.

Another idea is you could create some games that would enhance our knowledge of the new rules, get us to know the ideas better and learn it the fun way. You could also do a gaunlet which is when you have four defenders in a rectangle in certain zones (like on gladiator) and one attacker, the idea is that you have to try and get to the other end dribbling through or around the defenders without losing control of the ball or getting your ball knocked out of the area. You could add a keeper at the end or a goal with intended areas to score in This would benefit attackers defenders, especially if the attacker is in a tight area.

For the skills curcit, stick the helpers faces on to wooden boards in the goal & depending who you hit the more points you get! little ones could use a ramp in they needed to.

Dear Calum
in the stickwise camps I would like to do a lot more paired work and for you to teach us some more skills to get round players in matches. I really enjoyed the snakes and ladder game we did in pairs and would like to do that again. I also would like to learn how to flick long distence so if we could do that I would love it. thank you Calum for reading this

dear calum
also I thought that we could have a really fun match at the end of each camp where the parents take on the children

Hi Cal
How about hockey bulldog!
Just like bulldog but with stick and ball. We could play this in the warm up. On a signal from the tackler ( a defender) the players try to move balls from one end line to the other without defenders stealing them. If you lose ball you join the defenders.

Hi Cal
Anothe idea!
How about some one on one practice?
One player stands between two cones. The player with ball has to try and cross the area with the ball under control. Once the player is across the area he should pass the ball to the next player who can come back the other way.

Hi Cal again
Why not piggy in the middle?
Just like the normal game but with a stick and ball.
The only risk is balls flying at your face so how about no flicking.

Hi Cal
Talking of flicking could you give us some top tips on how to do areals for the older group.
Maybe to practise we could have some competitions:

1. who can flick the furthest
2.who can do the most acurate-hit a target
3. who can do the highest

Hi Cal
My final idea of the day
How about some speed chalenges
Which pair can do the most pases from a certain distance-depending on age and ability-in a minute.

Hi, the matches are great, and the skills circuit is great, but needs something new, at least bring the elephant thingie back. I think we should keep the middle group, if that's possible, because that seperates good midgets, from smaller, less experianced midgets. I also would like more things for goalies, because goalies are only used to defend the goal. Wouldn't it be great if goalies, with all their armour went to attack?! Maybe you could do a capture the flag type thing, where you have get the enemy's flag -or cone etc.- and claim it, mean while they can stop you OR go and capture your flag. Maybe capture the flag is going a bit too far, but hey, you wanted ideas.

as I am now training to be a goalkeper I think we should give the goaleys a bit of practive. also when i play for my club petersfield!!! our coach sais we need to pass a lot more so I thought of a game. we get in to a match situation but the people with the ball can't pass so they need to pass a lot more.
many thanks

another idea is that you put one defender between two cones and an attacker has to try and get past him by skill. The only thing is that the defender can't move and the ball is not allowed out from the cones. The cones are close to the defender so it is really hard to get past him. I thought you could teach us some tricks to get past the defender.
many thanks
